Message from the Principal

Thank you to the incredible PTA members for putting on a truly wonderful Spooktacular Bingo night. It was a such a fun night, and it’s always so exciting to see the Roosevelt community gather together to have fun.

As many of you know, the Superintendent’s Advisory Council have shared their ideas regarding the future of Redwood City School District, and Dr. John Baker has already held a couple of community forms. If you were not able to attend those, you still have the chance this week, as there are two more. On Thursday, November 1, a community forum will be held at Hoover Community School Cafeteria from 8:30-10am and later the same day from 6-8pm at the Kennedy Middle School Gym.

You also have the option to weigh in on the ideas put forward by the various sub-committees or share your own ideas. Go to this form to let your thoughts be known: http://bit.ly/2yD5KHY

The Jog-a-thon is less than two weeks out! We are very excited for this event, and I hope your children are too. Keep up the excellent job fundraising—we are just past halfway to our target of $45,000! Keep it up!

I hope to see many of you on Wednesday at the Halloween costume parade starting at 8:15am. If your child is participating, please have them come to school in costume, but make sure they bring regular clothes to change into afterwards. We are making Wednesday a free-dress day.

Please make sure you have signed up for your parent-teacher conference(s). The two official conference days are Monday, November 19 and Tuesday, November 20, although some teachers are offering times the week prior.

On Monday, November 5, we will be hosting a Parent Information Night about the American education system. Michelle Remond will be leading this talk in both English and Spanish. It will be held in the upper campus. A light dinner and childcare will be provided. While the talk is aimed at TK-1st grade parents, anyone new to the U.S. education system is welcome to attend.

For those of you who are around on Saturday, November 10, we will be having a Garden Work Day from 9am-12pm. Zoe, our amazing gardening teacher, will be organizing it, and we need as many volunteers as possible.

Also – classroom runtimes are now posted to our Jog-a-thon page, here!

Also-also –  we’ve had a 2018 Jog-a-thon lap bracelet sighting – and they’re looking pretty sharp. More laps means getting into “rare” bracelet territory.
