Message from the Principal

Jog-a-thon this Thursday!

After a number of months of meetings with the Superintendent’s Advisory Council and many community forums, Dr. John Baker will be presenting his recommendations to the Board of Trustees at the November 14 board meeting. Due to an expected large turnout, the board meeting will be held at the Fox Theater at 7pm. The recommendations will become available to the public on November 9, but at this time, I do not expect any major changes to Roosevelt School. While there has been talk of possibly moving to a K-5th and 6th-8th model for schools, Dr. Baker has expressed that he will need more time to review this option, and there will be no changes to the current school configurations for 2019-2020 school year. This means that Roosevelt will remain a TK-8th grade school for at least the next 1 ½ years.

Tomorrow, Monday, November 5, we will be hosting a Parent Information Night about the American education system. Michelle Remond will be leading this talk in both English and Spanish. It will be held in the upper campus. A light dinner and childcare will be provided. While the talk is aimed at TK-1st grade parents, we welcome anyone new to the U.S. education system to attend.

We are super excited for the Jog-a-thon this Thursday! We are getting much closer to our target of $45,000. We hope to see many of you join us for the big event on Thursday.

Remember that parent-teacher conferences start with some teachers on November 14, although the two official conference days are Monday, November 19 and Tuesday, November 20.

Also, Friday, November 16 is a super minimum day. This means that ALL classes are dismissed at 12 o’clock. Please place this on your calendar, so you don’t forget!

On Saturday, November 10, we will be having a Garden Work Day from 9am-12pm. Zoe, our amazing gardening teacher, will be organizing it, and we need as many volunteers as possible.
