School and PTA Resources for all Roosevelt Parents

12/16 – This Week at Roosevelt

Message from the Principal

Can you believe this is my last PTA letter of the decade? I’m looking forward to a couple of weeks off, and I hope you are able to enjoy the holidays with friends and family.

A couple of quick reminders that Thursday, December 19 is a super minimum day, which means that grades kindergarten-8th grade are dismissed at 12 o’clock (TK has regular dismissal at 12:30pm), and Friday is the first day of Winter Break. Students start back at school on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.

2020 is expected to be a busy one.  We have a weekly tours coming up in January (16, 24, and 27) with more dates to be added to February. We will need lots of parents to help out as tour guides, so please let us know if you are interested. Even if you can just help on one particular day, that would be very much appreciated. All tours will be in the morning from 8:30-9:45am. Please consider signing up using this link.

We also have Meet RCSD nights our second week back on January 13 at Kennedy and January 14 at Hoover. This will be our first opportunity for incoming families to talk to all of the different schools about their programs, and of course we will be there representing Roosevelt and our wonderful PBL program.

On Thursday, January 16, I would like to host an evening where we can come together as a community to examine our vision for Roosevelt for the next decade. Our school has experienced a lot of change this year, and as we welcome all our new families, we also want to hear what you envision for Roosevelt in the years to come. We welcome parents and families to work on a variety of activities and be part of discussions that can help shape who we are and who we will become. Look for a flyer to come out in the new year.

A reminder regarding attendance: RCSD does not get paid by the state when your children are not in school (whether it be an excused or unexcused absence). If you are planning a trip that is five days or more, please make sure you fill in the independent study forms. This ensures that we are still funded for those days, and more importantly, your child can keep up to date with their studies.

I would like to wish everyone a very happy new year, and I look forward to seeing you all in 2020!

– Principal Tina Mercer
