World’s Finest Chocolate…
This is the last week for the World’s Finest Chocolate fundraiser! The money for all chocolate boxes that you have taken home is due on Friday, October 7. Please keep in mind that if you sign for a box of chocolate to sell, you are responsible for the entire box. You may not return any unsold chocolate back to the school. For more information, contact the school office.

Rummage Sale…
It’s time to gear up for the 2nd annual Roosevelt Rummage Sale on October 15! The PTA is ready to receive any donations you can give to sell at the sale. Any items you’d like to donate for the sale can be dropped off in the office or the PTA room (next to the YMCA room). Booth space is also available for rent at $20, so let friends, neighbors and family members know. Flyers for the rummage sale were sent home in last week’s Thursday folder. For more information, contact aurora.gallardo@star-vista.org

PTA Pledges…
Reminders were sent home two weeks ago for all families that wanted to make a monthly contribution to the PTA. Please remember to send in your money. Please send a check made out to Roosevelt PTA or include your cash donation. Please also include your child’s name and room number so that it can be credited to your family. Thank you for your generosity!

How much does it cost?…
You keep hearing that the PTA is raising money for P.E., Art, Music and Field Trips, but just how much does it really cost? Here’s a breakdown of just some of the costs that the PTA wants to be able to pay for this year:

P.E. – $20,000
Art in Action – $2,500
Music – $1,000
Field Trips for grades K-6 – $10,000

There are also other programs for the students that PTA wants to be able to pay for such as Theaterworks, Accelerated Reader, 5th grade Outdoor Education, Winterfest, P.E. equipment, etc.  Please keep these costs in mind when you see fundraisers coming up throughout the year. The more money the PTA raises, the more programs and events they will be able to offer the students.

Box Tops and Labels for Education…
Even though the contests are over, keep collecting those Box Tops! There will be more contests coming up soon! To get more information about Box Tops and Labels for Education, go to www.boxtops4education.com and www.labelsforeducation.com

On the Parent Blog…
Thanks to our 2nd grade teacher Mary Washburn for pictures from her classroom and pictures of the Roosevelt staff! And remember, if you have any pictures or content you’d like to submit, let us know.  rooseveltblog@gmail.com

Calling all runners…
On October 15, the RCEF is hosting OctobeRun — a Half Marathon Race and a 5K Run/Walk. All proceeds from this event go to the RCEF for school programs in our district. We are hoping to get a team of runners or walkers to represent Roosevelt at this event and also a Roosevelt team leader. For more information, go to the event website at www.oktoberun.com If you are interested, please contact trishreillytaylor@gmail.com and I’ll put you in touch with anyone else that is interested in participating.
