Worlds Finest Chocolate Fundraiser begins

Site Council Meeting at 6:00pm in Room 14. Please join us for the first Site Council meeting of the year in Room 14 at 6:00pm.  On the agenda for this month’s meeting: school staffing, enrollment,  Measure W spending and school safety.  All are encouraged to attend and Spanish translation is available.

Tuesday, September 15
Come and enjoy a cup of coffee with the principal! Parents are invited to come and meet with Principal Girardi over a cup of coffee and snacks at 8:00am in Room 1 (the room across the hall from the school office). Hear first hand about district and school news, talk about any issues or concerns you may have or just come for the coffee. This is also a great opportunity to meet other Roosevelt parents! This is a very casual meeting so if you can only drop in for a few minutes, you’re still welcome to attend. Spanish translation is available for those that need it. If you have a younger child, you are welcome to bring him/her. Tell a friend!

Last day for OktobeRun 5K early bird registration! Entry fee for students is $10, Adults $30. Participants will receive a race t-shirt which can be worn as uniform. For more information, go to www.oktoberun.com

Snack Shack Grand Re-opening at 2:20pm! The Snack Shack is operated by our 5th and 6th grade students and all proceeds go towards Outdoor Ed for 5th grade and and the 6th grade trip to Yosemite. The Snack Shack opens each day at dismissal. Remember, students may use Raccoon Bucks to purchase items. All items cost 50¢ – $2.00.

Back to School Family Dinner Dance…
Come and join us for our annual Dinner Dance on Friday, September 19 at 5:30pm!  Tickets cost $5 per person and include dinner (lasagna, salad, rolls, dessert and a drink) and dancing to a DJ for the evening.  Tickets need to be purchased in advance. Please fill out the white form that came home to get on the entry list. Make sure that you provide the number of tickets needed, and your child’s name and classroom number. Make checks payable to Roosevelt PTA or send cash in a sealed envelope with your child to the school office. Please Note: 5th grade families are being asked to help out with this event.

Girls Volleyball…
There are two spots available on Roosevelt’s 8th Grade girls Volleyball team. If we can’t get 2 more players, the team will be canceled. Please contact the Parks & Rec office at (650) 780-7311 for more information.

Exercise Bikes Needed…
Our school is starting a new Read and Ride program! Some teachers will have an exercise bike in their classroom for students to use while reading. Our goal is to show how much fun reading can be, while improving health at the same time. But we need your help! We need exercise bikes. Please help us by either donating an exercise bike or doing one of the following: Email your friends, family and colleagues to see if they can donate anything. Ask your church or synagogue to include our request in their bulletin or newsletter. Mention our request on your Facebook page to spread the word. Any donations made are tax deductible.

If you can not bring your donated exercise bike(s) to  Roosevelt School, we will come pick them up after-school! Please call the office for more information.  Visit www.ReadAndRide.org for more information.

Spirit Wear…
All sizes of Roosevelt spirit wear will be available the week of September 21. Those that pre-ordered spirit wear will be notified when your order is available for pick up. Spirit wear may be purchased in the school office. Please be aware that the office is quite busy at the start of each school day and at dismissal, so please be patient with our office staff.

Win an iPad Mini!…
You can still turn in your $150 donation to the Roosevelt Enrichment Fund to have a chance to win an iPad Mini!

Checks can be made out to Roosevelt PTA. The PTA also accepts credit cards. Please stop by the office or send your pledge forms in an envelope to school with your child.  Anyone that gives $150 will get a special green t-shirt that your child may wear as uniform, a gift bag and a chance to win an iPad Mini!
