Thursday Storm…weather_rainAs you all know, a big storm is predicted for Thursday, December 11. High winds (40mph) are supposed to start late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning and the heavy rainfall is expected to hit Redwood City at about 7:00am. Please allow extra time in the morning in case of flooded roads and possible power outages. Be cautious and drive carefully around the school and especially in the drop off zones to ensure the safety of the students. The Roosevelt campus gets some pretty big puddles and water streams during heavy rain, so plan accordingly for your child’s comfort at school. Students should wear a hooded rain jacket (umbrellas will most likely turn inside out in the wind) and rain boots or other weather appropriate footwear. Ms. Girardi asks that parents pack an extra set of socks in backpacks so that the students can change into warm, dry socks if necessary. The storm is expected to be at it’s heaviest at 1:00pm so please show extra caution at dismissal time as well.

Second Harvest Food Drive…
The Roosevelt Student Council is sponsoring a Food Drive for Second Harvest Food Bank. Please donate canned goods and other non-perishable items from December 12-19th to help local families this holiday season! Your support will ensure that Second Harvest Food Bank has enough food to provide the 1 in 10 people it serves each month in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. The Food Bank needs nutritious, non-perishable foods for adults and children: No glass items please! Bring all food items to the Second Harvest bins located in the office, YMCA room and upper campus.
