c. $1.6 million

Make your guess and find out if you’re correct at the bottom!

Candy sale update…
If you haven’t already done so, please turn in your money for the World’s Finest Chocolate Sales. Our PTA has to turn in the money to World’s Finest for all of the boxes that were taken out.

Spirit Wear & Bumper Sticker Sales…
Both will be available for purchase at Spooktacular Bingo. We just got some more navy zippered hoodies in, so get them while supplies last. The school’s grey and navy hoodies may be worn in the classroom as part of the uniform.

T-shirts – $8.00 each (pink, light blue, grey and navy)
Hoodie – $18.00 each (grey)
Zip front hoodie – $25.00 each (navy)
Hats – $10.00 each (khaki)
Bumper Sticker – $1.00 each

Spirit wear is also available year-round in the school office. If you’re stopping by the office in the morning, please be patient with Gwen, Haley and Lorena. There is always a lot going on in the mornings, so it may take a while for them to get the chance to retrieve the items for you from the storage room. Also, if you are paying cash, please have exact change – the office is not allowed to hold cash to make change. Checks should be made out to Roosevelt PTA.

Funding Enrichment…
Pledge reminders will be sent out soon so please send in your donations. Roosevelt is asking for $100 per student for the year to pay for enrichment programs such as the dance class, the school wide art program by Art 4 All, the girls running club, field trips for all grades and hopefully much, much more! Please make checks out to Roosevelt PTA. Payments may be turned in to your child’s classroom or the school office. Make sure to include your child’s name and room # on the envelope or check memo line so that your family is credited with the payment. Thanks to our generous parents for making funding for these programs possible.

On the Parent Blog…
There’s lots going on all around our campus! I’ve posted pictures of Kinders hard at work during their TIG time, firefighters visiting 1st grade for their PBL Unit on community, the 1st and 7th graders measuring out the Statue of Liberty for the 1st grader’s PBL Unit on American symbols, the 3rd graders using their new SMART board, and 7th graders at the Renaissance Faire. I’ll also be posting pictures from the after school dance class and choir. Keep checking the blog for classroom newsletters. Kinder and middle school tour season is starting early, so more pictures of what’s happening in our classrooms are desperately needed. If you have any that you’d like to send in, let us know.

YMCA Job Opportunity…
The YMCA sports program is looking for someone 16 years or older to work in the after school sports program. Applicants must have an interest in sports. If you know of someone or want more information… please email Veronica, vega.veronica@gmail.com

Kinder Tour Night…
If you know anyone that has a child that will be entering Kindergarten next year, let them know that Roosevelt will be holding a Kindergarten Tour Night on November 7 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. For more information, contact rooseveltopenhouse@gmail.com or call the school office.

Roosevelt’s Facebook Page…
The district created a Facebook page for every school in the district. Please be sure to “Like” the Roosevelt page to get school and district updates in your news feed. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Roosevelt-Elementary-School/214259038634327

Volunteer Timesheets…
If you are volunteering any of your time for the school, don’t forget to fill out a Volunteer Timesheet so that your hours can be counted! Volunteer Timesheets are available in the classrooms and the school office. They may be turned in to your child’s classroom or the office.

Trivia Question Answer…
The correct answer is c. $1.6 million! In 2008, a house cleaner in Scotland won the world’s largest Bingo jackpot valued at $1.6 million US dollars. While you won’t win $1.6 million at Spooktacular Bingo on Friday night, you can win some great prizes and you will definitely have fun! Roosevelt’s Family Fun nights are always a a lot of fun and really shouldn’t be missed!

Have a great week!
