Memorial Day Holiday…

A Message From the Parcel Tax Committee…
As you know, the Redwood City School District is once again trying for a ballot measure in order to get local funding for our cash strapped schools. If Yes on W passes, it will bring in about $1.7 million per year for 5 years to our schools. This would be the biggest bang for your buck or hour of your time that you could do for schools this year! I know you are busy but we NEED you now.

The Yes on W campaign is going very well, but we need to get our message out to more voters before June 5th. This next week is critical to getting the word out since many of our local voters cast their ballots early.

We need everyone to come out and phone bank and/or precinct walk. Below find the sign up link to volunteer. (I want to add that Spanish speakers are needed! They have a list of Spanish speaking homes that need to be called!)

If one of these nights/days does not work for you, let me know and I will get you a phone list and/or walking areas.

Just like the last two efforts, we need more volunteers and we need them now if we are to win. This will be a very close election and could come down to ONE vote only. So even if you only contact and find that one more YES vote, this could be the difference between winning and losing.

So, please come out for an hour or more! in the next couple of weeks. We especially need people this week and next to contact those early voters.

I will be phone banking tonight and I’d love to see you. We either phone bank at San Mateo Credit Union or Fair Oaks Community Center – so check on website for address and location.

BTW – for those that have not phone banked before, I know it sounds scary or yucky…but there is an easy script to follow and you are not having to talk no voters into voting yes, we are just getting our message out and finding those yes votes. We need 2 yes votes for every 1 no vote so it is looking for the jewels in the sand every night. Most people are very pleasant that we talk to and I leave the phone banking sessions feeling energized and good about our community. So please come out.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. We can do this together. Our students deserve the best education we can provide them.
