Please join us after Open House for a Beach Bingo Night! Summer’s almost here and come celebrate a great school year by having some fun playing Bingo. Doors open at 6:45 and Bingo will begin promptly at 7. Tickets are $1.00 for 2 games. Milk, water and cookies will be provided. (The event organizers are working on getting other food for this event, so watch for more details this week. Also, see below for the request for volunteers)

SJ Earthquakes vs. LA Galaxy Soccer Game…
If you’re a soccer fan this event is for you! We are selling tickets to the SJ Earthquakes vs. LA Galaxy match being held at Stanford on June 30 at 7:00pm. Tickets are available at $15 each (Retail cost $22)! Our students will be given the opportunity to walk on the field during the “Parade of Champions” and the student selling the most tickets will win a signed jersey. If our school sells 300 tickets, a player from the Earthquakes will visit our school for an assembly and practice soccer drills with our students! Flyers and order forms were sent home so be sure to look for it. Extra forms are available in the school office.! Order forms are due on Wednesday, May 30. Tickets will be distributed on Monday, June 4.

Save Our School Music…
On May 23, 2012 from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm Redwood City’s Whole Foods Market is donating 5% of sales all day to the RCEF Save Our School Music campaign. Meet school and other community leaders throughout the day (especially 4:30-6 pm), enjoy a morning makeover and free coffee (10-12), listen to the Kennedy school band (about 5-6:30) while you shop after work, and take home dinner too! A special treat for kids of all ages: Marine Science Institute is bringing their shark tank between 4 pm and 7 pm! The Redwood City Education Foundation’s Save Our School Music campaign supports the middle school Instrumental Music Program. The RCEF supports all 9,200 students in the Redwood City School District. www.rcef.org/music.

Volunteers needed for Bingo Night!…
We need about 4 volunteers to help sell Bingo tickets, pass out cookies and milk and prizes. Help needed from 6:30-8:15. The district has created Facebook pages for each school in the district. The district wants to use these pages to get important school and district information out to families. President Obama Visiting Redwood City…
In case you hadn’t heard, President Obama is coming to Redwood City for an event at the Fox Theater on Wednesday, May 23. Please be aware that some of downtown Redwood City will be inaccessible on Wednesday for security reasons. I’ll post more information as I receive it about street closures and if there will be a parade/viewing route for the motorcade.

Redwood City Public Library Launches “Discover & Go” Museum Pass Program…
The Redwood City Public Library is thrilled to announce a great new service, “Discover & Go,” which provides Redwood City library cardholders with FREE and discounted passes to local museums and other interesting and educational cultural institutions.

This unique program allows Library cardholders to make reservations online by date or by venue, and immediately print- out passes at home. Those with no Internet access can come to the Library and use the public computers to take advantage of this great new feature. Anyone without a library card can get one by visiting a library branch, or by going to www.redwoodcity.org/library and clicking on “Get a Card.”

Redwood City Library cardholders can reserve free and discounted passes from a growing list of destinations, including The Tech Museum, California Academy of Sciences, Discovery Museum, Exploratorium and many more!
