SEPTAR Fundraiser…
SEPTAR (Special Education PTA, Redwood City) and Jigsaw Java are having a joint fundraiser this November 12. Celebrate Neighborhood Toy Store Day on November 12, 2011 from 10am – 5pm at Jigsaw Java (846 Main Street) and support SEPTAR while you are at it. Contests, giveaways, face painting (10 am to 1 pm), and a Zoob demo make this day a fun event for families with kids of all ages. Jigsaw Java will be donating 5% of all sales all day to help our students, teachers, and families. SEPTAR has been bringing people with an interest in special education together since 2007. www.neighborhoodtoystoreday.com

Parent / Teacher Conferences…
If you haven’t already done so, make sure to sign up for a time with your child’s teacher during Parent / Teacher Conference week (Nov 16 – Nov 21).

On the Parent Blog…
I’ve posted pictures and video from Mrs. Washburn’s 2nd grade class on their Balance & Motion Science unit. I’ve also posted pictures from Ms. Bacolini’s Kinder class field trip to the pumpkin patch.

Pictures needed…
I would love to get more pictures of what’s going on in all of the classrooms at Roosevelt. If you have pictures from your child’s classroom while volunteering, pictures from a field trip or class party, please let me know and I’ll post them on the blog. If you take a picture of your child’s artwork or any project, I’d be happy to post that as well. trishreillytaylor@gmail.com

Redwood City Hometown Parade…
Save the Date! Roosevelt will be participating in the Redwood City Hometown Parade on December 3. We will be decorating a trailer to be in the parade, so look for updates about that over the next few weeks. Also, the dollar stores are starting to put out their holiday items, so if you see any santa hats, pick some up to wear for the parade. Contact trishreillytaylor@gmail.com

WinterFest!…
The dates have been set! WinterFest! will be on December 6 and December 8 this year and will be held at Penninsula Covenent Church (PCC) at 3560 Farm Hill Blvd. Look for details to come home soon on which grades are performing on each night. For those that don’t know what WinterFest! is, it’s Roosevelt’s annual holiday performance. The children in each grade will be practicing a song or skit over the next weeks to perform on their assigned night of WinterFest!

SMART Boards…
You’ll be hearing a lot about SMART Boards over the coming months. An anonymous donor matched the money that was raised by the technology fundraisers at the end of last year and has purchased three SMART Boards for Roosevelt classrooms. SMART Boards will be installed in Katy Vawter’s 4th grade classroom as well as Jason Williams’ 5th grade classroom. Another board will be installed in Room 19 that all teachers will be able to use. The Book Fair Coin Fundraiser is hoping to raise enough money to purchase an additional SMART Board for another classroom. To see a SMART Board demo, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U05WeXPGlk

Have a great week!
