If you are interested, please contact Gwen in the school office. You will have to fill out an application with the district and get fingerprinted. Please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested.

Teddy Roosevelt Day!…theodore-roosevelt-photo
On Wednesday, February 11, the students of Roosevelt will be visited by our nation’s 26th president and our school’s namesake, Theodore Roosevelt!  Principal Girardi has arranged for a very special Teddy Roosevelt performer to come to our campus and visit each grade level. Roosevelt teachers have also been given books to share with their classes about Teddy Roosevelt.

Our visitor has also agreed to perform at the Redwood City main library at 6:30pm on February 10. If you want to see some of what he’ll be doing at Roosevelt on the 11th, you’re welcome to attend that performance. www.redwoodcity.org/LIBRARY/events.html

This event is not included in the PTA budget so the PTA is trying to raise the funds for this event and has created a GoFundMe account for donations. We are asking Roosevelt families to share the link of this GoFundMe effort on their own Facebook pages to get donations to this cause. Even if you cannot donate any money to the cause, please SHARE it on your Facebook page. The more exposure we are able to get on social media, the better chance we have of getting outside donations. Right now we’ve collected 45% of our goal! Here’s the link with some more information www.gofundme.com/rooseveltvisit

Girls on the Run…
Roosevelt is once again offering the Girls on the Run program to girls in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. Led by 2nd grade teacher Maureen McPeek, the girls will play games to build fitness, work on self esteem and run in a 5K on May 9 with Girls on the Run teams from all over the Bay Area. Classes are held after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the Roosevelt lower campus. Flyers went home in the Thursday folder with information about the program including costs. Registration forms are due on February 11. There are only 16 spots available, so sign up right away!

BoxTops!!…
Start saving up those BoxTops again! Our next challenge is with Henry Ford Elementary. The challenge start date hasn’t been decided yet, but it will be February or March. Let’s see if we can collect more BoxTops than the parents at Henry Ford and make their principal wear Roosevelt spiritwear every Friday for a month! We won our last challenge with Adelante and we brought in just over $600 worth of BoxTops! Let’s see if we can top that with this next challenge!

Yosemite…
6th grade families need to turn in their payments for this year’s Yosemite week on May 25 – May 29. Payments may be turned in to the school office. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.

Raccoon Bucks!…
For those of you that still have Raccoon Bucks from the last movie night, your child can use them at the Snack Shack! Each Raccoon Buck is worth $1 and may be exchanged for any sold in the store. The store opens each afternoon at 2:20pm and is located at the bottom of the main hallway, just before the lower playground. Parents may purchase Raccoon Bucks at any time during the year in the school office.
