Jogathon – new sponsor update
We have a new sponsor to announce for the Jogathon! Andrews Orthodontics of San Carlos will be our sponsors for “The Pack is Back” Rockin’Jogathon 2022.
The event is on April 21, and we so still need more sponsors. Are you a small business owner, or do you know someone who is a small business owner looking to promote their business to our community? As a $500 sponsor, the Jog-a-thon t-shirts will have the company logo on the back and will be not just worn for the event, but the shirts become school-approved dress code shirts for the future. T-shirts will be worn by over 700 students and volunteers. Additionally, we have a Jog-a-thon website that will recognize our key sponsors. If you are interested in sponsoring the Jog-a-thon or know someone who is, please contact parent volunteer, Jenny Barnes at jenny@roosevelt-pta.com.
We felt the Love – Valentinegrams
The fifth grade did a great job on their Valentinegrams fundraiser. We haven’t had a chance to do the final count, but we were so excited about the response.
We will be sorting and wrapping up the grams for delivery next week. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the fifth grade raising money for Outdoor Education.
Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is returning to Roosevelt this spring! Girls on the Run is a nonprofit that uses the power of running to build healthy, confident girls. Now more than ever, girls need a safe place to share feelings, build friendships, and get active. Physical activity is woven into each practice, to inspire an appreciation of fitness and to build habits that lead to a lifetime of health.
Each session consists of a discussion-based lesson, movement-based games, and a running workout.Girls on the Run is open to students in 3rd-5th grades. It starts the week of March 7 on Thursdays (1:45-3pm) and Fridays (2:45-4pm) and culminates in a 5K run on Saturday, May 14 for a total of 16 sessions (excluding school holidays and Spring Break). Students are expected to attend both sessions each week. The team is limited to 18 participants and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage you to enroll quickly as spaces will fill up quickly. For more information, please contact Coach (and 3rd grade teacher) Lydia Pacheco at lpacheco@rcsdk8.net.
