FIRALARMApparently there was some confusion today about the ConnectEd call that went out about the fire alarm at Roosevelt. Here’s some information from Ms. Girardi:

Just before lunch this afternoon, an electrical cord attached to a projector in Room 3 caught on fire. The teacher in the classroom (Lydia Krooss) unplugged the cord and the fire went out. She immediately evacuated the classroom and alerted the office of the fire. The fire alarm was pulled by Principal Girardi and all classrooms were evacuated and the fire department was dispatched to our school site. Representatives from the district’s Facilities department and the Custodial department were also called out to our campus.

The students were all kept out on the lower field and upper playground until the Redwood City Fire Department was able to assess the area and give the all clear for students to reenter the classrooms.  Room 3 was thoroughly checked by the fire department and district leads and they also checked Rooms 2 and 4 to make sure that the area was safe for the students.

The students were then released and were able to resume their regular activities.

According to Ms. Girardi, the students did a fantastic job during the building evacuation and while waiting for the all clear signal.

If you have any more questions, feel free to contact the school office on Monday.
