Screen shot 2013-07-08 at 9.39.16 AMWe learned late last night that a Roosevelt 4th grader, Jordan Silva, his mother Christina DiBono, and older brother lost everything in Saturday night’s six alarm fire in their apartment building on Woodside Road. They may have even lost their car in the fire. As of right now, the building is red tagged and they can’t even get in to see what remains, if anything, of their possessions.

UPDATE: The YMCA has generously offered to be a drop off spot for donations for the family. You can drop off donations to either the YMCA on Hudson or at Roosevelt. (Please use the Euclid entrance next to Schaeberg Library since the other side is fenced off due to construction.)  The YMCA Staff are in the Cafeteria and in Rooms 6A and 6B.

The family needs EVERYTHING, so gift cards for Target, CVS, Old Navy, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc. would be appreciated. As for sizes, Jordan is a size 10 size in clothes and 4 in shoes. Christina is a size 8 or a medium. Her older son wears a 30-32 waist and  S/M shirts.

Over 100 tenants of the apartment building have been displaced because of the fire. If you would also like to donate to the other apartment fire victims, here are some ways you can help:

Donations such as clothing can be brought to the Fair Oaks Community Center at 2600 Middlefield Rd Redwood City, CA 94063, (650) 780-7500 or to The Salvation Army. The organization says they need socks, sweat pants (size L and XL) and pants (size 30-31).  Donations can be brought to the Salvation Army representatives at 660 Veterans Blvd.

Our local Red Cross chapter is taking care of those displaced by the fire and they are accepting monetary donations. For more information about donating to our local chapter, go to http://www.redcross.org/ca/san-francisco/ways-to-donate
