Spooktacular Bingo Thank You…
Thanks to all of our volunteers for Bingo/family fun night! The committee would also like to recognize Pastorino Nursery in Half Moon Bay for donating the pumpkins. Thanks to the teachers and parents who baked goodies for the cake walk. And a special thank you to our bingo callers Mr Andersen and Mr Williams! All of you made it a terrific event!

Roosevelt in the News…
In case you missed it, Patch.com came to Roosevelt to film the earthquake drill as part of California Shake-Out. The children in Mrs. Herrerra’s 2nd grade class were filmed during the drill and 4th grader Omar Bravo was interviewed. http://redwoodcity.patch.com/articles/video-roosevelt-students-survive-earthquake#video-8182294

PTA Pledges…
If you haven’t already done so, please remember to send in your pledge money. Checks may be made payable to Roosevelt PTA or include your cash donation. Please also include your child’s name and room number so that it can be credited to your family. Thank you for your generosity!

Halloween at Roosevelt…
Roosevelt celebrates Halloween every year with a costume parade on the lower schoolyard at 8:30am. Most classes will also be having Halloween or Harvest parties tomorrow, so don’t forget to bring food if you signed up to bring something or help with the class party. Also, please keep healthy snacks in mind for the kids – granola bars, fruit, yogurt, veggie sticks, breakfast burritos, etc.

On the Parent Blog…
I’ll be posting a video of the 5th graders Theaterworks presentation on the digestive system and respiratory system and pictures from Spooktacular Bingo night. Thanks to Dora Bejarano for sending in her pictures. If anyone else has pictures to send in from that night, please send them in! For those that missed it, Mr Nate and Mr Williams put on quite a show!

Pictures needed…
I would love to get more pictures of what’s going on in all of the classrooms at Roosevelt. If you have pictures from your child’s classroom while volunteering, pictures from a field trip or class party, please let me know and I’ll post them on the blog. If you take a picture of your child’s artwork or any project, I’d be happy to post that as well. trishreillytaylor@gmail.com

Redwood City Hometown Parade…
Save the Date!  Roosevelt will be participating in the Redwood City Hometown Parade on December 3. We would love to have a car or flatbed truck to be part of our school’s parade entry, so if you have a convertible or have access to a flatbed truck that we can use, please let us know. Also, the dollar stores are starting to put out their holiday items, so if you see any santa hats, pick some up to wear for the parade. Contact trishreillytaylor@gmail.com

New booster seat law!…
On Tuesday, October 4, 2011, Governor Brown signed into law Senate Bill 929 which takes effect on January 1, 2012. This law requires that children riding in any vehicle must be restrained in the back seat in a booster seat until their 8th birthday or until they reach a height of 4’9″ – whichever comes first. The current law states that children must be in a booster seat until they are 6 years old or 60lbs. After January 1, 2012, a violation of the new law will be punishable by a fine of nearly $500.00 and one point on your driver’s record.

Have a great week!
