For more information, contact the school office. 369-5597

Free Dress for chocolate sales…
The teachers have all been sent the lists of students that sold 5 or more boxes of chocolate and now qualify for Free Dress Friday every Friday for the rest of the year.

Volunteers needed…
At least 12 helpers are needed on October 28 for the Spooktacular Bingo night to set-up, serve food, run the music for Pumpkin/Cake walk, sell Bingo tickets and more! This is a great way to meet other Roosevelt parents and have fun too!  Please contact Kim Schiff at kbschiff@sbcglobal.net if you can help!

Site Council / ELAC applications due…
If you are interested in signing up to be a voting member on Site Council / ELAC, please turn in your forms to your child’s teacher or to the school office. If you need a new form or want more information, please contact the school office.

Halloween at Roosevelt…
Roosevelt celebrates Halloween every year with a costume parade on the lower schoolyard at 8:30am. Most classes will also be having Halloween parties that day, so please check with your child’s teacher to see if they need any help or food for the class. Also, please keep healthy snacks in mind for the kids – granola bars, fruit, yogurt, veggie sticks, breakfast burritos, etc.

Rummage Sale Donations…
Even though the Rummage Sale has been postponed until the spring, you can still donate items for the sale. Any items donated between now and the rescheduled date can be dropped off in the school office and they will be stored in the PTA room. For more information, contact aurora.gallardo@star-vista.org

Parking…
Parents are still using reserved parking spaces in the morning and at pickup. Please be aware that the parking spaces on Vera Avenue in front of the school have been reserved for Principal Girardi, office manager Gwen Thomas and Roosevelt staff. Parents visiting the school or dropping off or picking up their children should not park in these spaces. It is also illegal to park in the fire lanes or designated handicapped parking spaces – unless you have a handicapped license plate or placard. If you are parked illegally, your car may be ticketed or towed.

Pictures needed…
I would love to get more pictures of what’s going on in all of the classrooms at Roosevelt. If you have pictures from your child’s classroom while volunteering or pictures from a field trip, please let me know and I’ll post them on the blog.

Escrip and Safeway Club Card…
Please make sure that you register your Safeway Club Card with Escrip and designate Roosevelt as your school. When you purchase items at Safeway using your registered Club Card, Roosevelt will automatically receive a contribution from participating products. If you registered your Safeway Club Card last year, please be aware that you have to renew it every year. To renew your registration or learn more, go to www.escrip.com

Looking for a grant writer…
Our PTA is looking for anyone to volunteer as a grant writer to help secure additional fundraising money for our school. You don’t need any special training and you will be given all of the information you need to apply for grants. This is a job that can be done on your own time from home. Please contact our PTA president Aurora Gallardo at aurora.gallardo@star-vista.org if you are interested or want more information.

School directories…
The school directory has been finished and is being sent home this week to the families that filled out the Communication Form and turned it in at MAZE day or during the first weeks of school.  If there is more than one Roosevelt student in your family, the directory will be sent home with your oldest child.  Please note that the information in the directory is for parents and students to contact other Roosevelt students for homework help, playdates, etc.  Please do not share the directory information with anyone outside Roosevelt or use the information for commercial purposes.  Also, every effort was made to ensure that your information was copied accurately to the directory form but if there is an error with your information, please let me know and I’ll correct the master copy.  trishreillytaylor@gmail.com

Have a great week!
