The annual Reading Fair is a unique Roosevelt tradition that celebrates books and reading. It’s like a science fair, but for literature! Students and classrooms from all grades decorate tri-fold boards with information, insights, and visuals. The direction packet you can pick up in the office or download from this page is meant to inform you about what should be included on the board, and can also be used as a space to brainstorm and plan your presentation.

There are two main categories in the Reading Fair: Fiction and Non-Fiction. You can work on your own, or with friends. (TK-2nd Grade boards are automatically entered as group projects.) Pick a book you recently read, or love to re-read, and inspire others to want to read the book! Ideally, you’ll use a variety of materials to imaginatively display your ideas. Your thoughts and effort should be present throughout!

In past years, winning boards have been shared with writers via Twitter – we have heard back from many authors whose books have been on display at our Reading Fair!

Have fun, and get ready to participate in Roosevelt’s Reading Fair!
