Message from the Principal

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Reading Fair. It was my first one, and I have to say I was so impressed. The creativity was amazing, and the boards truly showed the students’ passion for reading.

This week we have another fun event: the Lego Block Party this Friday night, February 8, from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Bring your children and your inner child and have some fun with Legos! A delicious dinner will be available for $5 a plate, and there will be a raffle too. We hope to see you there.

All of our enrichment programs will be up and running as of this week, when MV Code joins chess and Spanish as an after-school option. Ms. T is also offering an after-school art class for 3rd and 4th graders. If you haven’t seen the flyer and would like your child to participate, don’t hesitate to reach out to her directly. Also, if there is an enrichment program you would like to see available at our school, reach out to me or our incredibly dedicated PTA board and let us know. We would love to see the opportunities expand for next year.

ELPAC testing (English Language Proficiency Assessments for California) begins this week. This is an annual test for our English learners. This is an opportunity for many of our students to demonstrate their growth in the acquisition of a second language.

A weekly reminder regarding attendance: RCSD does not get paid by the state when your children are not in school (whether it be an excused or unexcused absence). If you are planning a trip that is five days or more, please make sure you fill in the independent study forms. This ensures that we are still funded for those days, and more importantly, your child can keep up to date with their studies.
