Message from the Principal

We are over halfway through the school year! Time is flying this year. Here’s hoping the second half of the year is even better than the first half. The upper campus (TK-2nd grades) is celebrating 100th Day on February 8. If you haven’t received any information about what your child’s class has planned, please reach out to the classroom teachers.

The last official kindergarten tour is this week on January 30, as School of Choice applications need to be in by February 1. After this date, anyone who would like a tour, I will do the legwork showing off our school. Thank you so much to all the parents who have been helping with tours. The feedback has been so positive, and I would like to continue this format next year.

The Reading Fair is this week. Boards are due on tomorrow, Monday, January 28, and the cookie reception is on Tuesday, January 29. Reading Fair boards can be dropped off at Room 1 before school or in the cafeteria after school. I’m excited to see Roosevelt creativity on show coupled with our students’ love of reading.

Puberty Talks begins in 5th grade this week. It is for an hour each day in the 5th grade classrooms. If you are a 5th grade parent and would like some more information, please contact your child’s teacher.

Remember to mark your calendar for Lego Night on Friday, February 8 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. It is sure to be a lot of fun, and we look forward to seeing you there.

This year we are planning a Variety Show with our students. The show will be in the evening on Friday, April 12 at the MIT Auditorium. Look for more information in the coming months about tryouts and rehearsals. Every one of our students has some incredible talents, and I look forward to seeing many of them highlighted at the Variety Show.

A weekly reminder regarding attendance: RCSD does not get paid by the state when your children are not in school (whether it be an excused or unexcused absence). If you are planning a trip that is five days or more, please make sure you fill in the independent study forms. This ensures that we are still funded for those days, and more importantly, your child can keep up to date with their studies.
