Since 2012, our community has supported local schools through a voter-approved education parcel tax to fund strong academic programs and classroom instruction, but this funding will expire soon.

Because our schools are among the lowest-funded in San Mateo County, this source of local funding is an important part of the school district’s budget. That is why the Board of Education voted to place Measure U, the Elementary Education Improvement and Student Achievement Measure, on the November 8, 2016 ballot.

Measure U would renew RCSD’s education parcel tax, which would provide approximately $1.9 million per year in local education funding that could not be taken away by the state.

Yes-on-U Phone Banks are Underway! We Need U!

We need 67% voter support so we are counting on you to make sure we secure $1.9 million annually for our students. Phone banks are fun and easy – you need no experience and we will provide quick training and a script. We are calling parents and previous supporters and only confirming if they will vote Yes on U. We aren’t selling anything!

Click here to sign up for a few nights. Bring your friends!
Join the Roosevelt Team on Tuesday, October 13th and Tuesday, October 20th and we’ll show the district how it’s done!
If you can’t make the Roosevelt nights, please sign-up for any that you can attend – this is a district-wide measure.

Measure U!

Measure U – on the November 8 ballot to replace and extend the expiring Measure W – is an $85 per-parcel-per-year tax that will provide approximately $1.9 million per year in local education funding that cannot be taken away by the state.

Measure U aims to:

  • Enhance math, science, reading and writing skills in local classrooms
  • Attract and retain qualified teachers
  • Enhance quality arts and music programs
  • Update classroom computers and instructional technology

Measure U includes the following accountability provisions:

  • No money can be used to fund administrators’ salaries or benefits
  • Senior citizen homeowners will be eligible for an exemption from the tax
  • Expires in 14 years and could not be renewed without voter approval

The proceeds from Measure U would be allocated on a per student basis in every school in the District.  The principal, teachers, staff and parents at each school would continue to determine how funds are spent at their school.

Please spread the word on the single biggest impact your vote can have on local education. More info can be found here: http://www.rcsd.k12.ca.us/Page/7732

  • Time is marching on for our kids’ education!

Measure U will bring $1.9 M in stable, local funding to Redwood City schools every year for 14 years to strengthen academics and retain high quality teachers. To win we need to raise $15,000, now, so we can get our message out to targeted voters before they get their mail-in ballots on October 11. That’s just a few weeks away. Most voters return their ballots within a week, so time is really short.

Almost 90% of registered voters in our district do not have children in our schools, so getting the message out to them is the only way to see victory for Measure U. Your contribution today is essential to keeping local funding for our schools and guaranteeing our children receive a strong, high quality education for years to come.

Please make your contribution today at: www.betterrwcschools.org.

The children and community of Redwood City thank you!

P.S. Time is marching on! Let’s make sure it’s marching to victory for Measure U and victory for the children in the Redwood City School District.
