Read Across America! Volunteers from Target will be reading to our 2nd graders.

Thursday, March 3
AIM High visits 5th grade. AIM High is a summer “bridge” program for students in grades 5-8.  Please contact the school office if you are interested in this wonderful program for your child this summer. Last week, Aim High’s co-founder and executive director, Alec Lee, was honored by President Obama as a Champion of Change.

Princess Ball…
The Princess Ball is coming this Saturday, March 5th. The final day to RSVP is Tuesday 3/1! Tickets will not be sold at the door and no admission will be allowed without a ticket. Don’t miss out on this spectacular evening! Third grade is hosting the event this year, but volunteers from all grades are welcome. Volunteer sign-ups are posted outside of the office and rooms 4, 5 & 6. New this year, a chocolate fountain! Consider donating any amount to help offset the cost. Donations can be made in the office. Parents Needed…
The PTA is looking for officers for next year – Secretary, President, Treasurer, etc. All positions will be termed out this year by the current board.  (Positions may be shared by more than one person.) Please contact Principal Girardi if you are interested in any position by calling the office at 369-5597 or pgirardi@rcsdk8.net

Boys Event…
Parents of boys – Save the Date! The Roosevelt Boys Event will be held on Saturday, May 7. The Roosevelt Boys event is for Roosevelt Boys & their special person only, no child that is not a boy or Roosevelt will be permitted. Tickets will go on sale at a later date, each ticket will be $5 per person.

5th grade parents are being asked to volunteer, but all volunteers are welcome! Please contact Amber Moeckel if you can help out at amberdawn519@yahoo.com

This is a “Red Carpet” movie event so bring your blankets and enjoy some treats and enjoy the movie! We will need help with the photo booth, which already has an attendant but we’d like someone to help with props. We need help serving Sweet treats and with the  popcorn machine. Volunteers are also needed with setup & cleanup.

Black History Assembly – Grades 1-8

PTA Meeting at 6:00pm in Room 14.  The PTA will be discussing the status of current fundraisers and direct donations fundraising and looking at the PTA’s budget for this year. All are welcome to attend and Spanish translation is available. Free childcare is offered in the YMCA room. Our 2nd Graders will be presenting at the beginning of the meeting.

4th Grade Field Trip to the Tech Museum

Come and join us for the Family Science & Literacy Night – Super Powers! This event begins at 6:00pm in the Cafeteria

Wednesday, February 24
8th Grade PBL Presentation – Chemistry “How do chemicals impact our lives?” Room 19 at 8:15am

Thursday, February 25
Intent to Return slips due! Please fill out the slip that cam home to let the office know if your child will be returning to Roosevelt for the 2016/2017 school year. There are wait lists for several grades for next year. The office needs to let the District Office know how many spots will be available.

Restaurant Fundraiser at The Habit in Sequoia Station (1111 El Camino Real) from 2:00pm-9:00pm. Present your flyer when you order and The Habit will donate 20% of your receipt back to Roosevelt! More flyers are available in the school office.

Chuck E Cheese Restaurant Fundraiser…
Thank you to the families that supported the restaurant fundraiser at Chuck E Cheese. We raised $313.81!

School Funding Survey…
The new school funding formula (LCFF) by the state requires input from community members for allocating money to programs in the district to better serve students. Please take a few minutes before February 23 to give your input by taking a survery at www.rcsdk8.net/page/5488

Roosevelt Board Report…
Each school is scheduled to make a presentation to the School Board once every 2 years. On February 10 at 7:00pm, it’s Roosevelt’s turn to present to the School Board. Parents and students are welcome to attend to hear about what Ms. Girardi has planned for Roosevelt and to show your support for our school and teachers. The presentation should last about 30 minutes.

Too Busy to Clip those BoxTops?…
Well, consider this: Last year Roosevelt earned $917.40 from BoxTops. This year we’ve already earned $766.70! Please remember to keep collecting BoxTops all year. You can wait for a BoxTops contest, or turn them in to your child’s teacher or the office at any time during the year.
