Another Award…
Principal Girardi has been notified that Roosevelt will be receiving the 2015 San Mateo County Reading Association (SMCRA) Literacy Award for our school’s annual Reading Fair program!
 
The awards ceremony will be held on October 22 and Principal Girardi will attend to receive the award along with our new district superintendent, John Baker and school board members.

School Supplies for the 2015/2016 School Year…
The following lists are the school supplies requested by each grade level for the 2015/2016 school year. Watch for sales on supplies at Target, Kmart, Office Max, etc. and pick up your school supplies before the crowds!

Summer Reading & AR Goals…
Summer Reading is a fun and can earn you points towards your August AR Goal. How may you quiz on books you are reading in the summer?

On Mondays and Tuesdays beginning June 29th – July 24th and August 3rd – 18th from 9:00 – 12:00, you may quiz at Roosevelt School. Just come to the Computer Lab, take your quiz and earn your AR points.

Ms. Paulette has set your summer reading goal points. We will hold our first Summer AR party the end of August for students who made their goals over the summer.

Summer Learning Challenge…
The Redwood City Public Library and Friends of the Redwood City Library invite you to join the the Summer Learning Challenge! To participate, read or listen to books all summer and complete fun learning activities. You can earn prizes along the way such as free books, coupons for local activities, and tickets for a drawing at the end of the summer. (One lucky student will win a $1000 college scholarship!).

Sign up at your local Redwood City Public Library branch or online at www.summerlearners.org. Thanks to the Friends of the Redwood City Library for their generous support of the Summer Learning Challenge!

(Parents or students can look up any library book on AR BookFinder to determine it’s reading level and points.)

Uniforms…
The following uniform color choices are part of the uniform dress code for 2015/2016:

Dress code for grades TK-5:
Navy or Khaki – pants, shorts, skirts, jumpers, etc
White or Navy – collared shirts/tops, sweaters, jackets

Dress code for grades 6-8 ONLY:
Black, Navy or Khaki – pants, shorts, skirts, jumpers, etc
White, Black or Navy – collared shirts/tops
Black, Navy or White – sweaters, jackets.

School spirit t-shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants are also considered part of the dress code for grades TK-8. Roosevelt logo polo shirts, t-shirts, jackets and sweatpants will be sold at MAZE day, so you can stock up.

Students may also wear any t-shirts earned from participating in any of the RCEF events (4th of July Fun Run or OktobeRun) or by participating in the after school sports program sponsored by the Redwood City Parks and Recreation Department as uniform.

Important Dates for the 2015/2016 School Year…
August 18 – MAZE Day from 4:30pm-7:00pm* for families with last names beginning with  M-Z
August 20 – MAZE Day from 4:00pm-6:00pm* for families with last names beginning with A – N

The first day of school for the 2015/2016 school year will be Monday August 24.

* Parents and students are always needed to help out at MAZE Day with collecting and stamping forms, selling spirit wear and welcoming new families to Roosevelt. If you would like to help out, please contact our PTA President, Greg Bryant at wgregbryant@gmail.com
