Roosevelt Enrichment Fund…image
If you didn’t turn in a donation or pledge form at MAZE day, you can still turn one in.  The PTA is asking each family to contribute $130 per child for the school year. You can sign up for a monthly contribution for as little as $13 per month. That’s about 73 cents for each day that your child is in school! Donations to the PTA support our art program, music, field trips, drama, outdoor education, library, assemblies, classroom supplies, after school clubs and classes and various needed items and supplies for this school year. Checks can be made out to Roosevelt PTA. The PTA also accepts credit cards. Please stop by the office or send your pledge forms in an envelope to school with your child. Thank you for supporting the extra curricular programs at Roosevelt! Anyone that gives $130 will get a special green tshirt that your child may wear as uniform, a gift bag and a chance to win an iPad Mini! The deadline for the drawing is October 31 so make sure to get your donation in soon!

Donation Matching…
If you want to make a donation or have already made a donation to Roosevelt’s Enrichment Fund, please make sure to check with your company’s HR department to see if they offer donation matching to 501c non-profit organizations.

Spiritwear…
All sizes will be restocked and available for sale in the school office the week of September 2. During MAZE day, the PTA ran out of many items in XSmall & Small, but sizes Medium – XLarge are currently available for purchase. Spirit wear is available for purchase year-round in the school office. If you’re stopping by the office in the morning or just before afternoon dismissal, please be patient with Gwen and Rosie. There is always a lot going on in the office during those times, so it may take a while for them to get the chance to retrieve the items for you from the storage room. Also, if you are paying cash, please have exact change – the office is not allowed to hold cash to make change. Checks should be made out to Roosevelt PTA. You may also pay by credit card.

Art for this year…
We’re excited to announce that once again, the PTA is sponsoring art for all grades through a program called Arts4All. This program provides an art teacher to each class to teach lessons throughout the year. The students will be learning basic art techniques as well as studying art masters. This program wouldn’t be possible without the generous donations by our families to the PTA.

After School Sports…
The Redwood City After School Sports Program is a year-round, school-based sports program that is provided by the Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department, in collaboration with the Sheriff’s Activities League, the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula, and supported by the Redwood City Police Activities League. The fall sports lineup with the corresponding registration deadlines includes:

Fall SportsFlag Football (6th-8th Grade) – deadline Thursday 9/4
Volleyball (4th-8th Grade) – deadline Thursday 9/4
Cross Country (5th-8th Grade) – deadline Thursday 9/4
Street Hockey (4/5th Grade) – deadline Thursday 9/4
Wrestling (K-8th Grade) – deadline Thursday 9/11

Don’t Forget…
Make sure to put your child’s name on any sweaters, sweatshirts or jackets that they bring to school.  The Lost and Found was overflowing with unmarked jackets and sweaters last year that could have been returned if a student’s name had been on the tag.

Escrip: Please don’t forget to also sign up on escrip.com and register your Safeway Club card, credit cards and debit to help earn money for Roosevelt at stores such as Safeway, Old Navy, Home Depot, etc. and remember to always look for the Box Tops logo on anything you buy. Please go to escrip.com and click on “Renew Your Safeway Club Card”

Why don’t the MAZE day packets go out earlier?
The paperwork doesn’t go out until just before school starts for many reasons:
1. The school office is closed and the staff is on vacation until the second week of August.
2. The office doesn’t receive the final enrollment list until the weeks before school starts, so even if the office was open, they wouldn’t have a complete list of addresses
3. PTA volunteers have to submit pieces for the packets
4. Everything has to be translated and then copies must be made.
5. One packet per student (over 600 this year) has to be assembled by the office staff
6. A mailing that big has to be scheduled with the Post Office by Gwen

The packets cannot be mailed out much earlier than they are because it wouldn’t be possible given the above timetable and logistical constraints.
