On the Parent Blog…
I’ve posted pictures of Mrs. Torres’ Kinders in a Music for Minors class, the 4th graders working on their California Regions Books, Room 10’s November newsletter and Room 23’s November newsletter.  The 5th graders in Room 13 had an inauguration party for their class election and had some very special guests. Pictures from that will be posted this week.  If you have any pictures or student work that you’d like to send in to be posted on the blog let us know. And don’t forget, for the most accurate information throughout the week, check out the parent blog. www.rooseveltparents.com

Hometown Holidays Parade…
Roosevelt will once again be walking in Redwood City’s Hometown Holidays Parade on December 1. This year the theme will be Christmas in Hawaii and volunteers are needed. Both Kindergarten and 2nd grade have been assigned to help with this event, but families from other grade levels are also welcome to help and participate in the parade. Parents and children are needed to volunteer for ideas, decorating, walking in the parade and anyone that would like to perform a short hula dance for the short 3 minute stop during the parade. Roosevelt’s parade organizer would like 10 students from each grade level to walk in the parade. If you wish to volunteer, please contact Brandi Sevudredre at blkchrry@hotmail.com

Holiday Gift Store…
The holidays are just around the corner and this year we’re trying something new – a Holiday Gift Store! This will be run much like the book fair. An outside company will be coming in with items that will be set up in the Holiday Store. Students (and parents) will be able to shop for gifts for family members and friends for the holidays. More information will be coming home in the coming weeks. 6th grade families have been assigned to help with this event, so look for sign up sheets soon.

Adelante Spanish Immersion School and San Carlos Children’s Theater invite all families to come and see a fun mini-musical “Sleeping Beauty and the Beast”. Trivia Question Answer…
The correct answer is c. 140 pages per day. According to Scholastic Books, the U.S. version of the book series has a total of 4,224 pages! The U.K. series has a total of 3,407 pages, so children in the U.K. only have to read 114 pages a day to finish the series in 30 days. Also according to Scholastic, the number of hardcover sales in the U.S. in the first 24 hours of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,”  was 8.3 million. That’s a lot of reading!

Make sure to check out our school’s Book Fair this week for the Harry Potter series as well as some other great books!

Have a great week!
