CST Testing begins on April 24 and it’s important that you get your child to school on time for testing!

Students in grades 2 – 6 are to meet in the cafeteria at 8:00am each morning for a pre-CST pep rally. After the rally, students will go to their classrooms to begin testing. Once testing has begun, late students WILL NOT be admitted to their classroom. Late students will have to wait in the school office until their class is done with testing. Late students will have to make up any missed test sections at another time.

The teachers and staff want every student to participate in the morning pep rallies to give them extra encouragement and confidence and they also want students to take the test with their classmates.

Study after study shows that students perform better when they feel good about themselves and their abilities. Each morning, the students will chant the “CST Cheer”, go over test taking strategies, answer practice questions as a group and get encouragement from teachers and staff.

Being on time for the morning assembly is also important to help each student feel like they are a part of the group. For a student, missing any part of an assembly is the equivalent of an adult walking in late to a work meeting or event. It takes a few minutes to orient yourself as to where you need to go, you distract those around you and then it takes time to focus and figure out what is being said by the speaker. That’s not a good way to start the day, and not a good way to feel before starting a test.

So, make sure to give yourself extra time in the morning to get your student to school early or on time for the CST!
