The 4th graders in Room 10 have been working hard on their Rocks & Minerals science PBL Unit in preparation for their presentations and they’re also using their classroom’s SMART board.

Using a SMART board has proven to increase a student’s engagement in the learning process. It infuses technology throughout the curriculum and increases support for visual learners.

The students love to interact with these boards, whether it be writing on them, watching their teacher use them, interacting with them by moving objects or clicking on interactive links, etc. This raises the interest level for each and every subject.

The teachers are able to compose lessons dynamically on these boards, never needing to “erase” what was written, allowing for time savings, consistency of delivery of information and more.

Currently Roosevelt has four SMART boards in classrooms with one SMART board in the auxiliary computer lab that can be used by any class. Roosevelt’s PTA is raising money to buy more SMART boards every year.
