Roosevelt celebrated Mardi Gras and Carnival first with an assembly by Happy Birds. The students got a chance to see Cockatoos, Macaws and Amazon Parrots. In addition to seeing the birds tricks such as singing, skateboarding and riding a bike, the students learned about the different types of parrots, where parrots live all over the world, how and why they talk, what they eat, what makes parrots different from other types of birds and what they can do with their beaks.

And on Friday night, it was a full house for another family fun movie night with the movie Rio! Families came with their pillows and blankets for a night of fun. Parent volunteers served up pizza, popcorn and candy and then everyone settled in to watch the movie. Rio themed prizes were raffled off during intermission. It was a great ending to a great week!

A big thanks to Kim Schiff for organizing the Happy Birds assembly and movie night!
