There still seems to be a lot of misinformation circulating out there and, as parents, we want to know what’s going on. So, here’s what we know so far:

Many of the news outlets are still reporting that the Special Education Preschool teacher that was arrested on Saturday, February 4 is/was a Roosevelt teacher. As of this morning (Friday, February 10) eight district employees were put on administrative leave while the district investigates what happened. Because the news media is still working with inaccurate information, many news stories are saying that the employees put on administrative leave were Roosevelt teachers. That is why the news trucks were in front of the school this morning and at dismissal time trying to talk to Roosevelt teachers and parents.

Roosevelt teachers are not part of this and our Roosevelt teachers were not put on leave. If your child had a substitute teacher on Friday, it was for teacher training or an absence due to illness. It is probably safe to assume that the district employees that were put on leave were directly associated with the special ed preschool class, but their names have not been released.

Again, the Special Ed Preschool uses three classrooms on the upper campus but has not been under the authority of Ms. Girardi. They are under the Special Education department at the district office.

As parents, we all feel for the preschoolers involved in this situation and hope that if the allegations against that teacher are true, that justice will be served.

We hope that the wrong information will be corrected soon so that our children and teachers will be able to go to and from school without reporters and news trucks bothering them.
