Thanks go to Emily Morgan, Gillian Parkhurst, Katy Vawter, Maureen McPeek, Jenny Brandt, Sarah Ramirez and Jason Williams for your pictures! If anyone else has pictures that they would like to share, please let me know. trishreillytaylor@gmail.com

Redwood City Hometown Parade…
Roosevelt will be participating in the Redwood City Hometown Parade on December 3 at 4:00pm. We will be decorating a trailer to be in the parade. Come and walk in the parade and show your school spirit! It’s a really easy and quick parade route through downtown Redwood City. We will be lining up at the corner or Arguello & Broadway/Marshall at 4:00 and the parade begins at 4:30. If you have a Roosevelt hoodie or tshirt, you can wear it to walk in the parade. We have some Santa hats for the children to wear, but if you see any Santa hats at any of the dollar stores, pick some up to wear for the parade. Flyers will be going home this week. Contact trishreillytaylor@gmail.com if you have any questions or want to help decorate the trailer before the parade.

WinterFest!…
WinterFest! will be on December 6 and December 8 this year and will be held at Penninsula Covenent Church (PCC) at 3560 Farm Hill Blvd. December 6 will feature performances by grades – Kinder, 4th, 5th and Room 6A and December 8 will feature performances by grades – 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th and Room 6A. For those that don’t know what WinterFest! is, it’s Roosevelt’s annual holiday performance. The children in each grade will be practicing a song or skit over the next weeks to perform on their assigned night of WinterFest!

Monthly Pledges…
Reminder notices are being sent home around the 15th of each month to those who wanted to make a small monthly donation to the PTA. As with any other donation to the PTA, this money is being spent on P.E. for all grades, art, music, field trips, assemblies, etc. Please make sure to put your child’s name and room number on the envelope so that your account can be credited for the tax receipts to be sent out at the end of January. As always, the PTA appreciates your support!

Outdoor Education Fundraising…
The 5th graders are trying to raise money for their Outdoor Education trip in May. They are selling scented candles by the SOI Company. Each candle sells for $22. I bought one last year and it lasted for months and smelled so good! For those that don’t know what Outdoor Ed is, it’s a week long trip to Jones Gulch near La Honda taken by 5th graders at every school in the district. For more information about Outdoor Ed, go to http://www.smcoe.k12.ca.us/outdoored/index.html If you’re interested in purchasing a candle, contact Mr Williams at jwilliams@rcsdk8.net

Roosevelt Presentation at Dec 7 School Board Meeting…
Principal Girardi will be presenting a report about Roosevelt School at the Dec 7 School Board meeting at 7:00pm at the District Office. Ms Girardi will be presenting the schools accomplishments and goals and recognizing the many people that help make Roosevelt great and the 5th grade students will be reciting the Constitution’s Preamble. All Roosevelt families are welcome to attend to show your support.

Online Shopping to support Roosevelt…
If you’re planning on doing any online shopping for the holidays (and all year) there are two options that will support Roosevelt:

The first is Donate Portal at donateportal.com/index.php?option=com_mtree&task=viewlink&link_id=95&Itemid=68 Click on any of the available stores and shop. Donate Portal will take care of the rest.

The second option is the eScrip Online Mall at www.escrip.com and in the upper right hand corner under Shop Today! click on At the Online Mall and it will direct you to their directory of participating stores. Then just shop! (And while you’re on their website, don’t forget to register your Safeway Club card and designate Roosevelt as your school).

Honey Bear Trees…
If you are buying a fresh Christmas tree this year or need a fresh wreath or garland, Honey Bear Trees in Redwood City on Woodside or San Carlos on El Camino is donating a percentage of your purchase back to our school. Tell them you are from Roosevelt School at checkout and they will make sure Roosevelt gets a portion of your sale.

Have a great week!
