Make sure to mark your calendars for the following events at Roosevelt this week:

Testing…
4th graders will be taking the State Writing Test on Tuesday, March 1.  Make up tests will be given on Wednesday, March 2.

This week on the Parent Blog!
I have included what I think are important links to Roosevelt parents on the blog.  On the right side, you’ll see different boxes.  The first is the Translate box.  For instance, if you click on Espanol, the blog will be translated into Spanish for you.  The next box lists the titles of recent blog posts.  Click on any title and that blog post will open.  Next is Important Links.  These are links to the school’s website, our Yahoo page, our Facebook page, etc.  Then there’s Other Roosevelt Links.  There you will find links to EZ School Pay to put money on your child’s cafeteria account, Jiji Math, Accelerated Reader and the Buck Institute which trains our teachers in PBL.  Then there’s Redwood City Links.  There you will find links to the RCEF, the Parks and Rec dept and a Yahoo group for parents in Redwood City.  If there’s another link you think Roosevelt parents should know about, let me know and I’ll add it to our blog.  www.rooseveltparents.com

Parent Teacher Conferences…
Conferences will be held the week of March 7 – March 11.  There will be Minimum Day schedule that week (except Kindergarten).  If you haven’t scheduled a conference time with your child’s teacher, make sure you do so this week.

Save the Date…

Expansion Committee at Board Meeting – March 9
The Expansion Committee will be presenting before the School Board on March 9 to ask that Roosevelt become a K-8 school. All are welcome to attend and you may also speak before the board if you choose to do so.

Family Fun Night – Bingo! – April 1
The PTA will be hosting a Bingo night on Friday April 1.  Look for more details to come over the next few weeks.

Fundraising…
You can donate your points in the Coke Rewards program to Roosevelt school. Roosevelt can then cash in points for items listed in the catalog for schools. Go to http://www.mycokerewards.com/schoolDetails.do?id=1056650985&x=67&y=21 to donate your points to Roosevelt!

Roosevelt is also participating in the Labels for Education program.  Labels for Education collects UPC labels for products such as Campbell’s Soup and Post cereals.  These can be turned into the school office.  You can also register your Safeway Club card on their website and points will automatically be given to the school when you purchase products participating in the Labels for Education program.  You can then turn also turn in the UPC labels and the school will get double points.  To register your Club card and for a list of participating products, go to http://www.labelsforeducation.com/MySchool/Default.aspx At this time, we don’t have a coordinator to collect labels that are turned in to the office.  If you would like to help out, please let me know.

Restaurant Fundraiser…
There is a restaurant fundraiser at Rubio’s in Menlo Park on March 10. So far, the restaurant fundraisers have earned over $2,000 for our school!

Volunteer Needed…
The district’s teacher’s union representatives would like to have a parent contact at each school site.  We need a Roosevelt parent to represent Roosevelt.  If you’re interested or have any questions, please let me know.  trishreillytaylor@gmail.com

Have a great week!
